Tips for Getting Your Summer Rental Ready
Summer rental season is here! Before your first guests arrive, it’s important to prepare your space and ensure everything is clean, up-to-date, and ready for renters. Follow along as we outline some things you won’t want to forget before your renters arrive.
Deep Clean
Be sure to thoroughly clean your entire home (or hire professionals to do it). Make sure to wipe down all kitchen appliances, cabinets, and hardware. Also, make sure all windows are clean, floors are scrubbed, and trash cans and dishwashers are emptied. Ensure that bathrooms are spotless by taking extra time to clean the grout, change the shower curtain liner, and wipe down mirrors.
Stock Up
Don’t forget to provide renters with an abundance of amenities. For the bedrooms, provide fresh sheets, blankets, and pillows. In bathrooms, ensure you have towels, soap, toilet paper, and cleaning supplies. In the kitchen, provide pots and pans, a coffee maker, a toaster, a microwave, and plenty of dishes and utensils. Also, check that all light bulbs, appliances, and electronics are working, especially air conditioning, sprinklers, and internet access. If you own a grill, don’t forget to have a full tank of propane and grilling supplies. At the Jersey Shore especially, it’s nice to include beach badges for your guests and even bikes or beach chairs.
Add Personal Touches
Infuse your own personality and help your guests feel at home. Include movies, board games, and other forms of entertainment for rainy days. Also, provide local brochures, travel guides, or menus to share your favorite local activities and restaurants with your guests. Finally, add throw pillows, rugs, and artwork to not make your home feel stark.
