Keeping up with online real estate marketplaces is a natural priority at The Connolly Agency. Among these popular forums is Zillow, whose senior economist has made optimistic predictions about the 2025 housing market.
How?
Orphe Divounguy states that a stronger housing market does not mean a quick-moving one; on the contrary, the economy will experience a slow growth. This shift may result in more federal rate cuts than currently expected. Mortgage rates may lower, and new construction will continue to dominate over the market, based on November statistics; new home sales have increased 9% from last year. Existing home sales should also see a slight recovery, but not as much as those of new homes.
What Does this Mean?
Homeowners are starting to rejoin the housing market with inventory increasing by around 17% from last year. This increase in supply means more options for buyers and more negotiation power. Markets in states such as Florida and Texas and cities like New York and Boston will be “hottest” in terms of inventory and increased affordability next year. It also means that mortgage rates must work in tandem with the strong housing market shift welcoming more listing and sales. This may result in the buyers’ market spreading to the Southeast of the United States.
