The first day of fall is not even a month away, its official summer is winding down. You can feel the shift in weather already happening, the warm breeze is turning cold. As sad as it is to see summer fade away, it is always great to enter into a new season. When you start seeing the leaves change you know sweater season is just beginning. The summer fruits are being replaced with what the fall brings. Watermelon and peaches are being replaced with squash and apples. Fall produce brings comfort, and it also brings great desserts: apple pie, pumpkin pie, and pumpkin ice cream!
Fall flavors give us pumpkin, salted caramel, chai, maple sage and brown butter. These flavors work with cooking, baking, and they even mix well with coffee.
As summer ends, so do summer activities. You can no longer swim in the ocean or lounge by a pool with the brisk breeze that Fall brings. Fall is the season of pumpkin picking, hayrides, harvest festivals and hikes through the foliage.
When the sun starts setting earlier and there is less daylight during the day, the spooky season has just begun. Halloween is just one of the two great holidays the Fall season has. Get out your ghost, skeleton, and spider decorations to really achieve the Halloween spirit. Halloween is a great time to get the family together to carve pumpkins and to discuss your costumes!
The next holiday of the Fall season is our personal favorite one. Thanksgiving, where all your favorite fall produce is served in one serving. Thanksgiving is a time to be grateful for everything you have and for the family and friends that surround you.
So, as sad as it is to see summer fade away, it’s always a great reminder that it is fading into another awesome season. One of the best things about living in New Jersey is its four seasons. Each season brings new holidays, activities, and weather. It’s important to enjoy every season and what it brings.
