Belmar is a town located on the Jersey Shore between Avon-by-the-Sea and Spring Lake. It is also bordered on the west/northwest by Wall Township and Lake Como and Neptune Township. It was originally incorporated as Ocean Beach Borough.

The Borough of Belmar is home to various styles of homes with a median home price of $550,000. It has a current population of over 5,500 residents and 2,695 households. The town has a k-12 elementary school as well as Saint Rose Catholic Elementary and High School.

The city is surrounded by picturesque beaches, parks, and the Belmar Marina. The town offers shops, restaurants, and local businesses. Belmar is the also the annual host of sporting events, festivals, and a variety of family events including the New Jersey Seafood Festival and The St. Patrick’s Day Parade.

The town has a recreation department which provides various activities including basketball, tennis, baseball, soccer, a junior life guarding program, sailing program, etc.

Belmar is home to the Belmar Fishing Club, a member establishment, located on the beach in town.  Pat Roddy founder of the Pat Roddy Band was born and raised and currently resides in Belmar.

Belmar is notable for being the home of the first and oldest first-aid squad in the United States. In addition, “E” Street is the original source of Bruce Springsteen’s “E Street Band”.

The Belmar School District consists of a single public school, Belmar Elementary School, for grades PreK-8, enrolling approximately 565 students per year. For high school, public school students attend Manasquan High School or Asbury Park High School.   In addition, Belmar students can attend Red Bank Regional High School, or one of the five academy nationally-ranked schools in the Monmouth County Vocational School District. There are also a variety of private and parochial schools at both the elementary and high school levels in the immediate area.

BELMAR TRANSPORTATION

Located approximately 60 miles from New York City, Belmar is served by several public and private transportation operations.

Train
Belmar is located along the NJ Transit North Jersey Coast Line, and hosts its own train station.  This line runs from Bayhead, NJ, in the south to Hoboken, NJ, Newark Penn Station, and New York City Penn Station and connects riders to Amtrack and Newark Airport.

Bus
Belmar is served by NJ Transit Buses with routes throughout New Jersey.

In addition, a number of private commuter bus companies operate in the area, including Academy Bus (www.academybus.com), providing daily service to New York City, Philadelphia, Atlantic City and points between.

Ferry
Commuters and visitors to New York City can travel from Belmar via ferry from nearby Atlantic Highlands on Seastreak Ferry NJ.
