A survey from Houzz showed that more than 2,300 U.S Homeowners who had their kitchen remodeled over the last 12 months and planning to start another one in the next 3 months. Renovated kitchen means updated countertops. The Houzz study reveals that people are not afraid to splurge on countertops! Although, engineered quartz is the top choice for kitchen counters. Quartzite which is all natural is also becoming a 2022 kitchen trend. If countertops are something that you don’t want to splurge on, no worries there are cheaper options. It’s important to find a countertop that fits your lifestyle. If you cook a lot and aren’t afraid of a messy kitchen stay away from marble that stains and go for a more durable option. opt for a more manufactured stone which is cheaper and can still look natural an example would be terrazzo slabs. For those of you who aren’t chefs and want to stay on a budget look into butcher block as another option. They have a much lower fabrication cost and it is easy to install, bringing the labor cost down!

2022 Kitchen Trends: Islands Keep Getting Bigger

Houz survey participants conclude that nearly 2 out of 5 kitchen islands are more than 7 feet long. That adds lots of storage as well as takes up a lot of space. Homeowners love the extra space to cook and to work from home. 20% of people reported that they now work from their kitchen island.

Shake-Style Cabinets

Shaker-style kitchen cabinets will be high in demand in 2022! 64 percent of remodelers are choosing this mainstay on transitional; home décor. The Houz reports shares that only 38 percent of people are opening their up their kitchens to other rooms compared to 46 percent in 2020.

Kitchen flooring is a big decision. Most kitchens have hardwood flooring, but the vinyl trend is becoming the new 2022 kitchen trend. It’s even more popular than ceramic or porcelain tile.
